About the role

Machinebase turns the design of a machine into the procedures people follow to build, maintain and repair it. For robots that means understanding a dense assembly from geometry alone: which parts touch, what holds them, which way each one goes in, and what has to come off before you can reach it.

You’ll work on that core. It is geometry, planning and kinematics, running on real machines from real customers, and what you ship is what their technicians follow on the floor.

What you’ll do

  • Develop the planner that works out the order an assembly goes together and comes apart.
  • Build the checks that prove a step is physically possible: collision, access and insertion direction.
  • Model joints and motion so a robot on screen moves the way the real one does.
  • Make it fast on assemblies with thousands of parts.
  • Work directly with robot makers on their own machines, and turn what breaks into the next improvement.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong computational geometry: meshes, contact, collision detection and spatial data structures.
  • Experience with motion or assembly planning, kinematics, or simulation.
  • Fluency in Python and in JavaScript or TypeScript, or the ability to pick up either quickly.
  • Hands-on time with real robots or machines, and respect for the people who assemble and service them.
  • Comfort owning a problem from a customer’s CAD file to a shipped feature.
