Our view
In vehicle plants a design change reaches the work instruction through a slow, manual handoff. In the weeks between, the line runs on workarounds. The experienced technicians cope by working around the outdated instruction, and their fix never makes it back into the document.
A service manual used to last a model generation. Now platforms change mid-year and high-voltage systems add steps that cannot be skipped. Training still means shadowing someone and asking a person about the edge cases.
We think the makers who win on service will be the ones who treat the procedure as part of the vehicle: released with the design, updated with the design, and shown on the design. That is most urgent for new entrants and specialty builders, who have neither thirty years of manuals nor the staff to write them.
Where Machinebase fits
- Assembly procedures for the line and service procedures for the field, from the same CAD.
- Step order worked out from the geometry, including what has to come off first.
- Procedures a service partner can follow without having seen the vehicle before.
